The following items were handwritten in my notebook, and I am transferring them here for prosperity (and grading purposes).
Artist Statement for the Skeleton/Skin Assignment:
I chose to use repetition in the shapes as well as the colors. I made a series of open forms, joined together to make a more closed, convex form. I used wire to make the arbiture, wrapping two wires around each other for each shape, to give it more support. I chose to use tissue paper for the skin, because i wanted a more transparent skin that would enable light to shine through, and highlight the colors. I feel that my finished project closely represents my preliminary sketches.
Transformation Material List:
Penny:
Round, flat, smooth, copper, small, durable, hard
Currency, one cent, 1/100 of a dollar,
thought of as not worth anything anymore; people throw it away
If I use pennies I will make a large piggy bank
Spoon:
smooth, curved, silver, heavy, durable
used to hold, carry or stir, usually liquids. Transfer food to mouth, can be used as a tool for digging or shaping. Sometimes they are decorative, but usually thought of as functional.
If I use spoons I will make a large floral motif.
Paper:
Flat, thin, smooth, fragile, tears easily, different colors
Used for conveying messages, thoughts, and ideas through writing and images. Used for carrying things, and protecting things. It is decoration and functional.
If I use paper I will use repetition to make 3 dimensional shapes and combine them into a larger piece of art.
I chose to use pennies for this project.
